Case Study: Emily

Emily is an enterprising, creative and motivated young woman who worked for a large multinational organisation. I coached her in 2020 before the COVID-19 pandemic.

Emily was great at her job. She’d already had a hugely successful career in communications she knew there was more out there for her, maybe in a different area, and she wanted to find out what that might be.

What was most rewarding for me about my time with Emily was that she didn’t come to coaching after a career shock or adverse set of events, she was acting on her ambition to take the next big step up, and was prepared to step sideways to find it.

So, here’s what we did. As a baseline, using a range of tailored tools, we identified Emily’s strengths, skills and behaviours. Then we turned out attention to the future, to what the ideal career might look like for her. We took a ‘blue sky’ approach and looked at possibilities for the next step in her career she hadn’t considered. Where am I now. Where do I want to be. How can I get there.

Emily got busy researching the different ideas we’d come up with and discovered digital learning and development. It used all her strengths and skills but in a new way.

We then aligned her CV, LinkedIn and interview key messages to this new direction. I was so excited at our 5th session, when Emily broke the news that she had accepted a role with the exciting, innovative organisation of her dreams.
